Infragistics have published a nice white paper on WPF and its future. This is a very positive piece which reaffirms Microsoft's and Infragistics' commitment to WPF.
For those of us that develop for WPF, this is great news.
However, if Infragistics are so committed to WPF, why have they given up on development of WPF reporting? Without a credible reporting component, WPF is not a credible platform for a lot of developers. The Infragistics reporting wasn't great but it was better than nothing. If you need a reporting tool (and Infragistics Reporting+ for the iPhone isn't one), then I guess you will have to go to another WPF toolset vendor for reporting. And, if you are doing that, why would you bother staying with Infragistics for the rest of the WPF tools.
What are the chances of Infragistics reconsidering and committing to Reporting as well as WPF?
Hello Tim and thank you for your post!
Infragistics continues to support WPF Reporting - http://help.infragistics.com/Help/Doc/WPF/2015.1/CLR4.0/html/WPF_Reporting_Understanding_WPF_Reporting.html and the work for improving this product is still in progress. The updates are released with the release for the WPF platform. The Infragistics Reporting - http://help.infragistics.com/doc/reporting/2014.2/CLR4.0?page=Getting_Started_NetAdvantage_Reporting.html on the other hand is the one being deprecated. And we are putting our efforts in the ReportPlus product when it comes to reporting as it offers the modern rich data visualization experience for mobile devices and soon for desktop machines. I believe the following article could give some details in the advantages of this product and why we are focusing on it: http://ko.infragistics.com/community/blogs/jason_beres/archive/2015/04/13/product-status-change-notification-infragistics-reporting.aspx.Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions on the same.
Hello Tim,
I am just checking if you have any other questions or concerns.
