Each time I try to install Infragistics 15.1 it fails. I have tried both the Platform Installer and the complete bundle "Infragistics_Ultimate_20151_WithSamplesAndHelp"
I am only installing the Winforms and WPF features with their samples. I get 4 errors, 1 for WPF, 1 for Winforms, 1 for WPF Samples, 1 for Winforms Samples.
It links me to 4 error files, that don't really give me any clue what is going on.
I have rebooted the computer, the installation folder is in the Download folder.
The information in the 4 error log files is very similar. This is for the Winforms one:

I don't understand why, but it seems like it is running the instalation from the C:\ProgramData\Infragistics\15.1\ folder.
I am running the installation as Administrator to discard any access rights issues. But I also added my user to the C:\ProgramData\Infragistics\15.1\ folder granting FullControl to it. I don't know what else to do.
What could be causing the installation to fail?
Hello Dzyann,
Thank you for contacting Infragistics.
Could you please give us more information about the following:
Thank you for your collaboration.
Hi Anastas, sorry, I forgot to mention I am working with Windows 7.
I have Symantec antivirus, but my coworkers have installed Infragistics without issues and they have the same antivirus.
Also, the following files are on that folder:
I have tried deleting the folder and started the install again, yet it didn't work.
I am administrator of my computer. But also granted Full Control to that folder to my user.
Hi again,
I was able to create a similar environment, but cannot reproduce the behaviour you are describing.
Can you please share what are the exact permissions of the msi files(no matter of the ProgramData folder permissions - not sure if the msi files inherits the permissions from the root folder).
And can you please send us all the log files - those from msi(s), sample(s) and from the PlatformInstall(all these are placed in the LogFiles folder). Please zip log files in a single zip file and attach it.
Hi Anastas, thanks for following this up.
I granted Full Control to the folder, but also verified that the 4 msi have inherited the access right.
My user has the same access rights in the folder where I am installing the Examples to.
Attached you can find the Log Files for the Infragistics_20151_Platform installation.
I also attached a screenshot of my access rights to the C:\ProgramData\Infragistics\15.1\Setups\Infragistics_WPF_20151_Samples.msi and a screenshot of the options I selected for installation.
Thanks!
Hi Dzyann,
I was able to reproduce the behaviour that you are describing. By enabling the encryption of the Setups folder, I get the same error as in your log file(MainEngineThread is returning 110. The system cannot open the device or file specified).
So can you please check if the encryptions for Setups folder is enabled(msi files also)? If so, please disabled it by following these steps:
Hope this helps you.
Hi Anastas,
Thank you! That helped. I had checked the folders to verify they were not encrypted, but I hand't checked the *.msi files. They were all encrypted.
After removing the encryption, WPF and Winforms Installation succeeded but the WPF Samples and Winforms Samples still failed.
I've attached their log files.
In any case, I am writing here the information of all the spam emails I have got in this thread, in case you think something can be done about it, or it is valuable.
i like you post... thanks...

Thank you for your time and collaboration.
Feel free to let us know about any other issues with the installation of our products that you might have.
Thank you for letting us know about that spam messages. They have been removed as soon as they were reported.
Hi Anastas, you were right I didn't realize that for some reason the folder was encrypted also.
On another topic, I've noticed a bunch of SPAM Like posts in this thread that were quickly deleted. I reported one as abuse, and then I got a message by Boris Toromanov asking me to give him the email address of the spamer, however since the post was deleted I can't. I tried to answer Boris by following the link in the email notification I received but It is not valid anymore.
This is the email I received from Boris.

Re: Spam message By [Infragistics] Boris Toromanov in Reporting Forums
I opened the mentioned thread and did not see such post or a one containing the mentioned "Nice post".
Can you tell me what email address did this email come from?
You can also unsubscribe from this thread.
Advising me to unsubscribe from the thread seems hardly a viable solution, since it is a thread I created myself to solve a problem I have.
I received the following emails:

Looking at the latest attached log files, I noticed this error:

Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Users\MY_USER\Data2\Infragistics\2015.1. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
So can you please, try to set the necessary permissions to the "Data2" folder and run again the PlatformInstaller.
