Hello,
I have a question about xamMap regarding the osm tile usage policy.
As stated in the policy (https://operations.osmfoundation.org/policies/tiles/), osm data is more than restricted in regards of heavy use and accessing more than a specific amount of tiles starting at zoomlevel 13.
This should also mean that simply moving through the map on a high zoomlevel (13+) should be against this policy, because then, as stated, the servers need to manually render everything on query.
In your help on Binding Open Street Maps it says 'The Open Street Maps web mapping service is not licensed so you do not provide any license keys for it to work with the xamMap control.' (https://ko.infragistics.com/help/wpf/xamwebmap-add-open-street-maps-as-geo-imagery-data-source).
Basically its possible to access this restricted data using xamMap with bound OSM.
Here are my questions:
If this is even one of your concerns, how is this dealt with or Is this something that only we users have to deal with? Can this restriction just get ignored because of some internal functionalities?
I know about my alternative of using other tileservers, it is just seems kind of weird for me being able to go against the osm policy.
Greetings
Hello and thank you for contacting Infragistics. The map simply reads the tile provider(s) nor do we provide any licenses to use any tile providers. You'll need to provide your own tile provider, provided by OSM for example, that contains the guardrails in place to prevent this type of behavior. OSM provides a paid tile provider. I'd reach out to OSM to see what they have to offer.
