The xamDockManager™ control docks all root-level split panes in its Panes collection to the left by default. This means that all your content will be docked to the left when the application starts. However, you can set xamDockManager’s InitialLocation attached property to dock a root-level split pane on a specific side of your application or to float a root-level split pane when your application starts.
The InitialLocation attached property will not have any effect once xamDockManager adds the split pane to its Panes collection. You must set the InitialLocation attached property either in XAML or before you add a dynamically-instantiated split pane to xamDockManager’s Panes collection.
The following code demonstrates how to set the initial location of a pane.
